Any other northern folks having a serious case of the winter driving blues? My poor car is tucked away for the winter and, damnit, I miss it.

The worst part is that it’s warm enough in SE Michigan today to bring em out (high of 45F) and there’s no ice on the roads, but they’re still too #salty and I’d have to call up my insurance and take it out of the “storage” rate.

Honestly sounds like a self imposed personal problem.
Get winter tires, wash your car Every 2 weeks (touchless wash if you’re particular about paint).
If Larry Kosilia from /DriveClean and Ammo NYC can drive his nice 964 all winter, then why can’t you?
Ultimately, it’s a thing YOU control, so make a change if it really bothers you.

Yeah, 45 is still too cold for mine. Summer tires don’t play nice below ~60 degrees. Gotta really work them to get up to operating temp.

I just dragged the SL out kicking and screaming to meet another Oppo and deliver a birthday gift.
Cant be saving her for the next guy. It just happened to be a sunny, dry day, despite having snowed Friday. Good enough.

Mine is driven every day but I'm dying to hand wash and wax it. I bought it in October and the weather turned to crap shortly after. Kentucky winters aren't usually snow. Just virtually constant rain. Blah.

At least you have something to tuck away! And if I might say so myself a fine choice to tuck away. One of it not my favorite Mustang and it is even my favorite color.

Well, partly because my business isn’t detailing cars. It takes me all afternoon to do a minor detail on my steed. And cleaning my car isn’t my idea of fun. In fact, it feels an awful lot like a shit load of work. I’ve driven my car in salt before to get to an autocross, and it wasn’t much fun cleaning. Additionally, I’m not in the mood to spend $1500 on an extra set of wheels so I can drive my car an extra 500 miles a year. Besides, what winter tires fit on 9.5" wheels? If I had any other car, I’d drive it all year. Miata? Fuck yeah. but not a Boss 302.

I can control my car fine. I just don’t trust the other idiots on the road who can’t drive in snow and ice.

I know that feeling. I have a separate set of standard SS wheels/tires for spring, autumn, storage, the summer-only 1LE wheels/tires are napping in the basement.

My S2000 is winterized, but the soft sidewalls and tread are scary in hard cornering, so I don’t really do any. Feels like the car flops over mid-corner. Can’t wait to switch the tires back!

Your argument makes my original point. You’re the one limiting your own enjoyment of your car; be it financial or clean-freak reasons.

But are you complaining about the blues from not driving a car put away? Especially if it’s a problem completely within your control of fixing?

I might not be complaining, but I have my car in storage for winter. This is the time you start going stir-crazy about driving it again, sure.
It's much easier to store my car for winter instead of trying to make it capable of driving in winter.

Look, if you just put in hours of extra effort and hundreds of extra dollars, you could be a TWOO ENTHUSIAST and stress about snow accumulation, road conditions, and idiots sliding into it ALL YEAR LONG instead of dealing with the mild inconveniences of storage!

Good, I’m not arguing about driving/not driving in the winter. I have no issue with that.
Again, my point here is that OP is complaining about a decision he made himself, and that’s additionally completely within his discretion to change.
It’s one of those “first world problems” things similar to saying your $2,000 laptop’s battery is dying and then complaining you can’t charge it because the charger is in your shed in your 3-acre back yard.

The 275s on the rear of the SL did just fine, no question about stability. Only hiccup was the CEL related to fuel trim because she doesnt like being cooped up in the garage as much as she is in the cold weather.
No need to wash because the roads and everything else were plenty dry.
Just felt bad about waking up to a frosty SL.
Mercedes did far worse to the car during testing than Ill ever do, so Im not super concerned. Obviously other drivers concern me, but honestly, the weather doesnt change the amount of psychos on the roads, I just head out early, get back early, and take indirect routes to keep myself away from people. I feel your pain, but maybe its because its an old german car, I need to run it often to keep it happy.

The only long road trip mine has been on was through the north Carolina mountains... It was horrible. Tons of traffic, 30 MPH speed limits, and usual traffic speeds of less... Need to get out to central Missouri. Those roads are fun.

You’re the only one complaining here. I’ve just got the “can it please be spring yet” blues.
And driving my 1 in 429 Boss 302 that I purely bought for fun driving on tracks and autocrosses in the winter time on roads covered in salt? Fuck that noise.

I bought this, and then an exhaust. And a supercharger. And a Watts link. And gears. And a hood. And wider wheels and drag radials.... You get the idea.
I picked up a perfectly running 1990 Lincoln Mark VII with severely neglected paint in December of 2014. It’s my ZFG car. 11,000 miles in it since the purchase and I wouldn’t hesitate to go on a 1,000 mile road trip with it this very instant.
I’m debating a Maaco job to make it a 5 footer. Nothing high end, just halfway decent....

The Race Red ‘12's were really pretty too. Hell, they all look good. Even the competition orange and that one yellow one with white stripes looked good. I almost bought one of the CO/white ones... Sometimes I still wish I had.

White was my first choice too. Red and blue was my second. I’m in the same boat on regrets but when I take the cover off come springtime all is forgotten. I’ll have to hit ya up for some autocross pointers on the Boss come springtime.

I’ve had cars with tfi owned by me or my parents since 1987. Probably driven/ridden 300k miles away n them. I’ve changed 3 TFI modules. It’s a 5 minute job.
